William (Bill) Arthur Dempster was born on July 20, 1922, to Charles and Agnes (Kilby) Dempster of Roundup, Mont. He passed away on Nov. 29, 2016, at the age of 94 in the Pioneer Medical Center in Big Timber, Mont.
He served in the navy during World War II. He was a charter member of the Absarokee VFW #7311, a Masonic Mason, and a 70-year member of the American Legion #19 in Big Timber. He retired from the Montana Power Company, natural gas division after employment in both Big Timber and Bozeman.
He was a loving husband to his wife, Dorothy Y. (Eik) Dempster for 64 years until her passing on Sept. 11, 2008. They were Gallatin Good Sams members for their retirement years and loved wintering in Arizona.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, his sister and brother-in-law, Agnes (Clarence) Petaja, his sons, William (Sept. 23, 2015) and Steven (June 10, 2015).
He is survived by his son, Gerald, and daughters, Marla (Don) DeShaw, Rita (Mark) Mus, and Susan Cowan; his daughters-in-law Connie Dempster and Cathy Dempster; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
A graveside memorial service and internment of ashes will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017, at 11 a.m. in Rosebud Cemetery, Absarokee, Mont. Luncheon to follow at the Roscoe School House, Roscoe, Mont.
